One more thing to note. Ember was a very unpopular girl who wanted to be a rock star when she grew up. Ember gets ditched by the guy who asked her to go to the movies with him. She waited all night for him to show up but when he didn't show up she went home instead. Exhausted, she didn't notice the mysterious fire that appeared in her house and she died from the flames, which explains her flame related ghostly powers and appearance. I also think the second set of verses don't have to do with Ember but actually about the guy who ditched her. I'm pretty sure that part must have happened after she died and became a rock and roll fire ghost. She probably burned him with her new powers in revenge for what he did. "Nothing but ashes remain."

"to you I did surrender" she gave her innocence to a guy who then ghosted her, no pun intended. He found someone new even before they where together and it made her mad. She wants to make him pay so she lights his house on fire and not only kills him but herself as well. The house Burns so badly it's hardly even there.

The song suggests that she fell in love with a boy, gave herself to him, and then discovered that he doubted her and was cheating on her. Something happened and she ended up dying in a fire. She then took her revenge on the boy by causing him to die in a fire, which caused him to not become a ghost (nothing but ashes remain). She then proceeds to say that no matter what he does, he will always remember her name. She describes everything that caused her to be a ghost without giving away the fact that she is one.

Ember was my favorite character. Personally I think this song is about how she was in love with her boyfriend but she found out she was cheating on him and that he couldn't even remember what her name was. She fell asleep when she was at home by herself and somehow, either she started it or it was an accident, the house caught on fire. That's why she becomes so powerful when her name is being chanted. It's her way of being remembered. I also thinks that's why she says "tell me who you love. " deep down, she wants to be loved again and that was why she hated seeing sam defend danny the way she did. Jealousy. Not romantic kind more angry envy.

She did “surrender” herself to a boy she loved, it was probably a secret crush or something. He might’ve been a playboy, because after she gave herself to him, he completely forgot about her, including her NAME.
He might’ve even slept with her as a game or a bet. He took her, and didn’t even care to remember her name.
