    Lady gg is truly doing her artistic thing, transforming real life pain into art. Still paying dues. If I had not heard from this board about a 'story' behind this song I would have just interpreted it to mean that her soused boyfriend was walking out and having indiscriminate s**, giving up the safety of a committed relationship and testing the sometimes diseased waters of promiscuity, leaving her "speechless" and disillusioned and he to "Death and Company". Hard to see it any other way really for me sans some background. The artistic world really does, at times, create odd, beautiful, and cryptic articles: Sheer 'magic'! This is a piece worthy of support for her sainted artistic ego (no meanness intended, but clear evidence noted; and learning from her): She's earned it. I mean, who talks about having her power stolen through he vjj (thanks Oprah). Really! She's been around. Kudos to her continued growth and ours with her! Looking forward as a new fan.

    I agree that it's 'Death and Company', but it is, in fact, 'arms up'. She most definitely does not say 'hands'.
    But anyway. I'm recording a cover of this song in two days, and Lady Gaga just did an awesome job with this song.
    It is supposedly about Lady Gaga trying to convince her Dad to get surgery, and he didn't get it, so he died. Not sure if that's true, but it's what I heard.
    But this is an awesome song. I don't understand how people couldn't like it.

    This is neither horrible nor fake. And your interpretation of the song is so short sighted, people have other crap to sing about other than love. This song was written to convince her father to have open heart surgery or else he would die. "could we fix you if you broke?" and shes just sharing all her memories of him to show him how much he means and how she would never enjoy life if he left. "i'll never sing a song, won't even sing along". Get with it people!

    One of my best friends killed himself and I have never met a bigger lady gaga fan than him. We played this at his funeral and I have played it every day afterwards. We threw glitter on his coffin before we buried him properly. This song will always cause an ache in my heart, but is also a comfort for somebody to be able to express what I struggle to.

    Oh, left one thing out that is important to the song meaning. Daughters who feel this way seek the love of other men to fulfill that need, but it's hard to find happiness anyway. The line about "I know that it's complicated, but I'm a loser in love" refers to failed relationships and an inability to have a successful relationship because of the failure of that first relationship, the daughter and father relationship.

    It reminds me of a song that is sung by someone who has been broken by someone whom they fought to be with such ferocity that by the time that the blow is delivered, it is almost impossible to comprehend, but by the time that you do, you are washed over with sorrow so thick you feel as if you will never even have the words to describe the ending of something you thought would last forever, let alone try to love again.

    The meaning of the lyrics to speechless are not exactly hidden in deep mystery. It's apparent that she's just singing about a former lover or lover's who ruined their relationship by getting wasted too often. She's "speechless" because it's happened so many times that there is noting left to say that she hasn't said before. They really are great lyrics and to me, it's the best song she has recorded so far.

    Its for her dad duhh. Come on people. The song was written by Gaga to convince her father, Joseph Germanotta, to undergo open-heart surgery, in order to repair his malfunctioning aortic valve, and as a reminder for her younger fans to appreciate their parents. She performed it in her concerts for her new album, at the time, The Fame Monster. For all of you Gaga fans you will be pleased to know that the song worked and her Dad did get the surgery.

    She is not talking about a failed relationship. She is saying that they hurt eachother, but there is no one else. That's the entire essence of the song. From her point of view, he comes home drunk, isn't nice to her or whatever, but deep down, he loves her, he just doesn't know how to express it. It's not a "sad" song, it is in fact a realistic view at adult relationships. When you're in love, you may drag eachother through the dirt. But you're still in love.

    Azzy is right! I'll add only the boy-mother relationship (which something different because of leader role comes to accept of the boys. Many people here (and general in Internet = too bad) said that song make them cry etc. I thing we need to grow up. Enough with the sad and cries. We had no-one to pick us up. We, can only count, good times, even the bad ones is many-many more. So this song spreads negative emotion and thoughts. We have already enough problems and cries doesn't really help anyone. It seems that some of them used their emotions like drugs. I mean negative emotions in huge doses make us more hmm. Azzy?

    This song reminds me of my father, who recently died from destroying himself with drugs and alcohol. The song seems fairly self-explanatory, and I feel it matches my own situation.
    As his daughter, I just wanted a dad. He wanted to drink, party, and pretty much chose that lifestyle over being a father. I know he loved me as much as he was able, but he never loved me the way a father should. In the end, he knew that too.
    The last first is particularly lovely: "Some men may follow me, But you choose any girl but me." That's exactly what it feels like to a daughter. As an adult, I understand it was just human weakness, but as a child, it just seems like you're not loved.

    Who does lady gaga think she is showing of her hotness in front of people and evilly doing her little satanic symbols, like for example she is such a fransman, fransmen are people who worship the devil and they want to kill us, so please do not love lady gaga because in paparazzi she sang this hidden message: evil save us, the stars above, above, we will model on the arts of lucifer and she also sang this in dance in the dark: silicon posing silicon posing I ain't no b*h. And in all her videos she is constantly trying to show us the devil's number: 666 and covering one eye. She is also trying to say and tell us s** by doing actions of which children are not suppose to learn, see and do plus she is also kissing and killing people in different ways to show us the moment dissintuion and gaga also uses words and put on clothes not appropriate for children who are looking at her videos constantly so please take note of this note right away.
