Panic! At The Disco – The Ballad Of Mona Lisa lyrics
She paints her fingers with a close precision
He starts to notice empty bottles of gin
And takes a moment to assess the sins she's paid for

A lonely speaker in a conversation
Her words are swimming through his ears again
There's nothing wrong with just a taste of what you paid for

Say what you mean, tell me I'm right
And let the sun rain down on me
Give me a sign, I wanna believe

Whoa, Mona Lisa
You're guaranteed to run this town
Whoa, Mona Lisa
I'd pay to see you frown

He senses something, call it desperation
Another dollar, another day

And if she had the proper words to say
She would tell him
But she'd have nothing left to sell him

Say what you mean, tell me I'm right
And let the sun rain down on me
Give me a sign, I wanna believe

Whoa, Mona Lisa
You're guaranteed to run this town
Whoa, Mona Lisa
I'd pay to see you frown

Mona Lisa, wear me out
Pleased to please ya
Mona Lisa, wear me out

Say what you mean, tell me I'm right
And let the sun rain down on me
Give me a sign, I wanna believe

Whoa, Mona Lisa
You're guaranteed to run this town
Whoa, Mona Lisa
I'd pay to you frown

Say
what you mean, tell me I'm right
And let the sun rain down on me
Give me a sign, I wanna believe

There's nothing wrong with just a taste of what you paid for.

Mona lisa is about a prostitute.
The first stanza means that a man who is with mona lisa notices that she drinks a lot and is dressing up, and thinks that is unusual. He confronts her about it but she gives no yield to his questions. "there's nothing wrong with just a taste of what you paid for" is a hint about her lifestyle.
"say what you mean, tell me i'm right. And let the sun rain down on me. Give me a sign, i wanna believe. " basically, the man is saying 'don't hide anything from me. Enlighten me, and just deny it if I'm wrong. '
"whoa mona lisa. You're guaranteed to run this town. Whoa, mona lisa. I'd pay to see you frown. " this leads me to believe that mona lisa is either hawt or has a lot of power. She is the town's main attraction, or perhaps its driving force. Also, when he says "i'd pay to see you frown", that refers to the mysterious painting, with mona lisa sitting with a mysterious, sly smirk. He's asking her, in other words, to reveal her secret and drop that knowing smirk.
"he senses something, call it desperation. Another dollar, another day. And if she had the proper words to say. She would tell him. But she'd have nothing left to sell him. " the man interrogating mona lisa thinks that she is selling her self because she desperately needs the money. But if she admitted this, then the man would run away from her out of contempt and disgust.
"mona lisa, wear me out. " that sounds like something among what that a client of a prostitute might say.
    "pleased to please ya"
And that's what a prostitute would say to her clients.

For me the gender disclosed in the song, either he or she (pertaining to Mona Lisa), is just a one person. The persona of the male and the female and how the songs goes describes and tries to show that each and everyone of us has a different personality and that our inner "Mona Lisa" is usually what we show to other people. To make them appreciate us. But sometimes in the end of the day or song, our "real self" or what we feel who we really are when we are alone suffers the consequence made by us in order to satisfy our "Mona Lisa" and the "town" we want to gain aspiration to. So basically I think it's a conversational song for him/herself of what's happening and such.

    This song is really good.
I don't really get attached to like members of bands I mainly go for like the actual songs and to me they are still good even with out the othere to so its no use to hold it against then for like thos to members leaving.
But to me this song is like when your buying something and like the person who is selling it knows that its no good and so you buy and then suffer s oits saying like o those who do that should like suffer to we they should get a taste of like wht theyve done to others see them suffer and that really good :)
