This song refers to the Holy Spirit. When you receive Jesus and ask Him to come into your life, you have a personal relationship with Him and find yourself telling anyone who will listen about His grace and mercy. The Spirit stops you from doing wrong. It makes you speak in other tongues and even knocks you out. When it hits, you have no control. Even when others misuse you, you find yourself forgiving them and some times even feeling sorry for them. It has you believing when everyone around you doubts. You find yourself looking into people instead of at them. You feel renewed and undeserving because you recognize the fact that in spite of who you are, God loves you. He may not love what you do, but He loves you. This is the God that I serve and the presence of the Holy Spirit makes me know no mater what He is still in control.

My study this morning discussed the gift of the Holy Spirit and its availability to us. This song, which has inspired me for almost 50 years, perfectly describes our response to His presence. The Holy Spirit within protects us, without keeps us, above protects, beneath upholds us, before directs us, behind keeps us from going astray and all around defends us! Amen!

The meaning to what is this? For this song when I hear it is something that I have no control can't explain. Even when I want to do wrong this unknown will not let me is the good that is in all of us the desire to go against what the world say is ok but doing the right thing and not been shame
I can stand and face anything and anyone because I know in my heart an soul that its right. When ever I hear this song it makes me thank and feel.

1 Timothy 3:16.
Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.
This song has been a strange one to me, being so popular in black gospel circles, and yet being based on a question. The scripture verse above describes the mystery of godliness, and I believe this is what Bishop Hawkins was referring to in such an artful way.

I think this song is talking about the pure love of Jesus! His love when released in us is transforming! It makes us do right when we would have done wrong; love people we would otherwise hate. Jesus' love in us compels us to want to tell others about Jesus! We can't sit on it-hold our peace! God's love is "other worldly", overwhelming!

I was into Tramaine and Lynette songs! But I suppose the a Lord has His time for every Word, therefore, as I sat on the side of my bed and looked back at thing of the pass the Holy Spirit breathe on me, as I listened to this talented man spread his Anointing in songs. And, even though I do not know the song but He gave me Pastor Walter Hawkins' and I was caught up in the reams of God of reassurance and His love which gave me peace. I relocated to another county with my disabled son not knowing anyone and worries about Jim, but a Word from the Lord solidified what I must do. I have not found a church but I began to pray and hope for guidance ad Zhe shown me what I should do and where I should go. He said until a place is found listen to this Pastor for I (God) Ordain him at an early age as one of my chosen ones listen and I will direct you through Word. I love these words that captivate my mind and spirit "It makes me do right when I would do wrong" all I can say "Thank You Lord.

I love and miss you Pastor Hawkins for even though you in a much better place and at peace but you will ever die because your music live in so many of our heart. Alaw need you with Him to serenade our love ones, so one day I would come and join your heavenly choir.

P.S. Pastor, I am a singer so if you do not mind I want to sing this and another one when I go home this year.

I am not sure what this song refers. If this song refers to the Holy Spirit instead of What is This, the lyrics should be Who is This. Instead of the word it the word He should be used. The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Trinity and changes these lyrics would be the proper reference. The Holy Spirit is Personal
