This song automatically makes me think of grieving over dead friends/lost friendship, though thats what speaks to me in my clouded judgement. OP is dreaming about their old friend, but every day they have to face the reality still. It’s denial of their death.

‘You can’t heal me’, their friend either doesnt care about them any more, or the friend isn’t there to console you about their own death.
‘If it were real, where would I dwell?’ OP wondering about how things would be if their friend didnt leave.
