Spiritbox – Everything's Eventual lyrics
Time will be with you always
You treat it with lidocaine
A willing distraction to make it feel far away
You have to say
You have to say if something's not right
Believe me
Embrace the pain
Delusion isn't viable anymore

Breathe it in now breathe it out
The second the hand unwinds
An excess of freedom you've built far away in your mind
Though it's expected to feel so responsible
(something in the water now, breathe it in now breath it out)
With out illusion it makes you uncomfortable
There's something in the water now
(let your lungs fill up with doubt, breathe it in now breath it out)
I feel the tension
There's something in the water now
(pick your poison, spit it out
Breathe it in now breath it out)
I'm suspecting that

Time will be with you always
You treat it with lidocaine
A willing distraction to make it feel far away
You have to say
You have to say if something's not right
Believe me
Embrace the pain
Delusion isn't viable anymore

I'm gutted
Slipping away
No numbness lifting the fray
Hallucination
Distracting from building tension
They hold me nameless
I don't even know their faces
A moment in time

(time will be with you always)
Perfect hallucination
Distract me from building tension
Give me more insulation
I don't even know their faces

Time will be with you always
You treat it with lidocaine
A willing distraction to make it feel far away
You have to say
You have to say
You have to say
You have to say
You have to say
Delusion isn't viable anymore

Hallucination
Distracting from building tension
They hold me nameless
I don't even know their faces

At first I thought this song was about how we avoid thinking about death. We distract ourselves in various ways from our eventual and inevitable deaths. But then I realized this song is not just about death but about quite literally "everything" and anything that could be something serious in life that we're putting off (i.e. death, applying for college, budgeting, getting a car repair done, getting a health screen, admitting you have an addiction, etc.). We have all the time in the world to get these things taken care of, but instead we distract ourselves with things like TV, our jobs, videogames, social gatherings, shopping, etc. We distract ourselves so much that when it's time to deal with real life problems we get anxiety. Some people are never able to handle these problems, and sometimes even when something is so obviously wrong, we convince ourselves that everything is fine. This song is a reality check. It's telling you to accept when something is not right and do something about it before its too late.
