It is a really lovely song. We had an LP record of the greatest hits of The Seekers that dad played every now and then when he was back from his job as a railway driver in the Indian Railways driving long distance goods trains.
Even today after 40+ years I feel like this song connects me to who I am and & to my home in Badnera - a small, semi-rural, railway town in Maharashtra State of India, where I grew up along with 2 brothers and 2 sisters & the best mom and dad.
Looking back, I am amazed at how simple our life was as kids with just a radio to keep us connected to the rest of the world, and a record player that introduced us to the Christmas songs of Jim Reeves and to The Seekers, along with other mostly Country & Western music of the '50s, '60s & '70s.
Would I have given that up for all the toys and electronics that my kids have today and my answer would be simply "never". It was a really beautiful world although very basic and at times tough.
