Hurt because maybe they have hurted you unintentionally and you felt deeply hurt because you actually love them, and regret because they actually could be "the one", and you let them slip through your grasp just because of your instinct of not seeing you two in the long term. They could also be the best one you've ever had and you finally come to terms that you're an idiot for letting them go just because of irrational uncertainty where they've been all you ever needed, and they were right in front of you after all this time and now you have to pray the price of letting go of a precious diamond, dwelling up in your "could be"s and "what if"s.

Unfortunately my ex boyfriend was a jerk but at the time I was totally in love with him I was head over heels about him and then tins started going downhill he started getting a bit lets say odd and I felt pleasured and then I apparently made him mad by going to a party and he drove away and literally drove off a cliff I was breathless I almost took my own life but my mum was a bit more sensible that me when I saw this music video it just made the past creep back on me. Very meaningful song. Very relatable. It had happened to us in some point, it likely means our first loves or young love. The song starts sweet but then gradually turns sadder when reality struck-we didn't end up with the one that we love back then. It also happens to me. I still think of him until now, after 7 years and he had a long time girlfriend now. =( he's my one that got away.

I was with her from childhood for more than three year, I loved from my inner feeling but did not explore to her. Still I met at New Dalhi, I got apporunity to share my feeling to her. Omg, the ideas here. This song is about two friends that were inseparable as teebagers. They did everything together, but due to thier immaturity they didn't know how to express it emotionally, just physically. Then as they matured the guy moved on not knowing what thier future would be (maybe he realized things they thought were important weren't and so on, but as in real life the three words "i live you are so powerful! They started out really good and as their relationship continued to get longer they started fighting more and more and forgot to tell him that she did love him regardless so how was he to know when she just argues and doesn't say in the end how much he really did mean to her by the time she realized it was too late and if you watched the music video he actually died driving back to her but she never knew all she knew is he died and it was definitely too late.

My friend just recently died in a car crash so this song means a lot to me. My friend was the one that got away. We had such a special friendship and loved each other very much. Something like this happened to me recently, but he was my friend, not my boyfriend. He used to hang out with my group every day until on my birthday he decided to leave us. We all share our point of views and it rings true in a part of our soul we thought was hidden from us till the writer uncovered it. I've loved someone for 35 years. I dated others, married others and he finally came to mr but he came to me very broken, over weight, an ex alcoholic, older and his body broken and beat up. And indeed in need of my love and caring. I've known him since he was 19 and I was 15. I fell in love with him when I met him. We lost contact, I married at 18, divorced at 22, then we found each other again. We lived together for 2 1/2 years. He couldn't commit to me then so he went to Louisiana and I went to Las Vegas (after a brief 6 month stay in California). Oh watched this video for the first time last night and couldn't believe how it affected me, I had a lump in my throat. Took me back to when I was 18 - over 20 years ago, and was in love with a very special boy. My parents stopped us from seeing each other but we said we'd have to get back together someday. We ran into each other now and then for years after and was like no time had passed. I eventually moved away to another country. I then heard he was getting married and I wrote to him wishing him all the best and he wrote to me and said 9 years on he still thought of what couldve been. I eventually married a wonderful man.
